Six-Word Story
Word cloudRemote or in person
Your week, in exactly six words.
The constraint does all the work. Six words is short enough that nobody agonises and long enough to be genuinely expressive, and the wall of answers is usually funnier and more honest than any status update.
Run this when…
The situations it was built for. If none of these is the room you have, it is probably the wrong activity.
- A Monday team check-in
- A writing or communications team
- A weekly stand-up that has gone stale
How it runs
Everyone types a short answer and it lands on the big screen as it arrives.
- 1You start a session and put the code on the big screen.
- 2Everyone joins on their phone — no app, no sign-up, just the code.
- 3You drive the pace from the host screen; the room answers as they go.
- 4Ending the session builds the report, with every answer in it.
Running it well
Only the host sees these. Participants never do.
- Enforce exactly six. The counting is half the fun, and the constraint is what makes the answers good.
- Read four or five aloud. On screen they are a list; read out they are a mood.
